Dear Neighbors: Every 3 years we receive a grant (Neighborhood Connection Grant) from the City of Kirkland to spend on various neighborhood projects that might not receive funding otherwise. Projects are determined by a vote of the neighbors in our area.
Some projects that have benefited from this money in our neighborhood have been a sidewalk on 100th Ave NE from NE 116th St to NE 112th, benches near the playground at Juanita Beach, and improvements to safe walk routes near A.G.Bell Elementary School.
We hoped to complete the last project from our most recent grant, the beautification of the intersection of 100th Ave. NE and NE 132nd (near Juanita Elementary), however due to many difficulties engineering the project, we (the JN Board) have decided to pursue another course of action.
We have roughly $5000 to spend and have had a request for additional streetlights on Forbes Creek Drive. The area is used by pedestrians and bicyclists year round. The lights will greatly increase safety in that area, particularly in the dark winter months. The remaining funds will allow us to purchase and install 4 lights - a vast improvement to the area.
In order to authorize this change, we need a vote of the neighbors in our neighborhood. I have attached a simple survey form to assess the vote. Please respond NLT January 15th. Below is the link - just vote yes or no. No additional information will be collected from you.
